Nice things to say @ Christmas

Just engaging you in some seasonal quotes with some deeper meanings.

"Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love!" -- Hamilton Wright Mabie

At the end of the day Christmas is about love, love for family, friends, your neighbour and each other despite class, stature, race or ethnicity.

"The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other." -- Burton Hillis

Christmas is about family, make sure to spend time with your family and make Christmas about your family, Christmas is one of those times of the year where family should come together despite any past quarrels or disagreements. Put that behind you, enjoy the season with your loved ones.

"For the spirit of Christmas fulfills the greatest hunger of mankind."  -- Loring A. Schuler

The greatest hunger of mankind is love! We all want to be loved, be in love and to feel and experience love. Christmas makes it easier for that to happen in a special way that cannot be explained.

"I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month." -- Harlan Miller

Move over Facebook! Whoever could do that will be the next billionaire! lol But more so, we all can open our Christmas jars every month and we don't even have to do the painting, cleaning, baking and cooking :P all you have to do is be the best person you can be, be giving, be loving, be kind and be understanding.

"Open your presents at Christmas time but be thankful year round for the gifts you receive." -- Lorinda Ruth Lowen

Give thanks for live always and every blessing that may come your way, big or small.

"It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air." -- W.T. Ellis

You cannot fake the Christmas spirit, either you have it or you don't and it is when we all have it that it gives the atmosphere a little extra something that makes the whole place brighter and more exciting to live in.

"May the spirit of Christmas bring you peace, The gladness of Christmas give you hope, The warmth of Christmas grant you love." -- Author Unknown

My wish to you... Love, peace and happiness... Merry Christmas!

Simplicity

I met you under the simplest of circumstances
A shy hello and stolen glances
They say life is about taking chances
Well I’m glad that I took the chance to talk to you
Looked into your eyes and got lost in them
When your lips parted, soft, sweet vocals filled my eardrums
And I listened to the rhythm of you

The first time I saw you smile ever plays on my mind too
One day, that’s all it took
You mesmerized me with your personality
Astounded me with your beauty
Simplicity

Much easier than others who try to complicate
Evidenced by the theme of our first date
A picnic in the park
You cooked I ate
I held your hand, they intertwined perfectly
Foresight of a perfect match was it destiny?
Fate, a snowcone and a stolen peck on the lips

Can it get any better than this?
We’re in a relationship now and we are growing even closer
I introduced you to my mother and from then on I knew we’d always be together
We weathered many storms
Got each other through some rainy days
Not without our own arguments, highs, lows and rock bottoms

But thoughts of you and me, you and I, me and you
Have always gotten us through
From the day we cut that cake together and said “I do”
To the day Korbin was born
And the day Kammie started her first day of school
20 years later now and one thing still holds true
I’ve found simplicity in three words
I LOVE YOU

Growing up Rights & Wrongs

My sis did that *beams with pride* she's 15. She used color pencils. Well you can argue that the art above is kinda lame for a 15 year old. But art is probably one of the most subjective things on earth. What makes art special however is how it makes you feel. It’s a connection and emotion you feel toward that particular piece. Is this piece any different from Da Vinci's Mona Lisa? What makes that art better or different from any other piece of art?

This piece inspired me, and had me deep in thought for a while. What was it? Why were the colors chosen? Did she intentionally give it that unfinished look?

Well even more impressive to me was the well thought out explanation about the piece which she wrote at the back. It went…

The mother is explaining to her fetus the ways of growing up. The piece starts out with you see two hands cradling a belly. The blue represents the closeness and no matter how far apart they are they’ll always be together. The orange around the blue is the bind between mother and daughter. The light green, brown and green represent her early childhood years and the peach next to it represents innocence. The child has a playful innocence. But as she gets older which is the purple she starts to love and the red represents her falling in love and becoming passionate. The black represents heartbreak where she may have dark times and the violet represents the hardness she has created from getting hurt. The purple represents forgiveness and maturity and letting go of the bad and embracing the good. Now at the end of the mother’s story she smiles and says the gray, “On my face represents the bad, the good, yellow and the conflicts that will happen between us, the brown. But no matter how bad things get, just remember I’ll always love you and you will always be my baby girl.”

Still think it’s childish?

50

So I've reached my 50th Blog Post! My Golden Blog Anniversary!!! *confetti shoots out from this blog post* :) Haven't written anything in a while (since October 1st to be exact) but It's good to see my blog views are just as active as before. Thanks again for continuing to read and appreciate my thoughts and sharing your comments and views with me. The purpose of this blog is for my thoughts to evoke thought in the reader, to make you ponder, spark a debate or even positively change the way you view a particular situation or idea.

In commemoration of this 50th Blog Post I'll take you on a journey back in time and share with you my top 5 favourite Blog Posts... My top 5 favourite Poems Posts and give you a preview of 5 blog posts to come really soon! So here goes!

Top 5 favourite Blog Posts in no particular order:

Click to read Equilibrium ‘Emotion meets Logic’ this is my most viewed piece with over 900 views. Not only that but it is probably my most thought out piece, I really looked at the male female dynamic from both sides of the coin. The concept is that men are too logical, women are too emotional and both sexes need to find that balance of both emotion and logic to have a successful relationship i.e. equilibrium.

Click to read The 1/3 Principle “Find your passion and make it your profession” This was one of my first deeper Blog Posts where I basically explored the concept of your job/career and how much of your life is spent at 'work'. 1/3 of your life is spent at 'work' are you going to spend it dissatisfied, waiting for the weekend? Or are you going to be excited and happy in a career where you go home feeling a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment? That being said you should "Find your passion and make it your profession." and this Blog Post seeks to help persons' do that.

Click to read Lessons learnt from Winnie the Pooh this is a collection of quotations from Winnie the Pooh that when I found them were so profound and thought provoking that I had to analyse and give my take on them and share it with everyone. That silly old Winnie the Pooh is actually such a wise and inspiring character.

Click to read Soca Monarch- The Good The Bad and The Ugly got the most comments on and offline of all my Blog Posts. It was my commentary on this years Soca Monarch competition which is held as part of T&T's Carnival celebrations.

Click to read Satisfaction inspired by the quotation “A man who finds no satisfaction in himself will seek for it in vain elsewhere.” I took this lesson away from that quote: Instead about man's "pursuit of happiness" being about chasing things, feelings or people we should all try to become as whole as we can be. The quicker you learn the lesson that you need to be content with yourself then everything else in life would be that more satisfying because you have found fulfillment in yourself first. The earlier in life one learns this... the more years of true satisfaction one can enjoy.

Bonus Blog Posts (Because I couldn't just choose 5)

Click to read My definition of a Gold digger Pretty straightforward name lol but this Blog Post is really deep and something I think all women should read, analyse and internalise subjectively and make your own comments thereafter.

Click to read Things you shouldn’t tell the opposite sex this is a very fun and witty Blog Post about something very serious. Throughout it, yes you will laugh but I hope at the end you will catch on to the very important message embedded.

Top 5 favourite Poem Posts in no particular order:

"Celebration, elation we are all God’s creation; Yet still some of us came here in shackles and chains; After 1838 we were freed but the bondage still remains." click to read Emancipate yourself

"A woman asked me to define her; I replied, I define you by your vagina." Click to read Vagina

"I am the hole that holds long, lost forgotten souls of the young and the innocent; I am the place where the criminals and drug pushers lie when their deeds catch up to them; I am subject to the tears cried on the dirt that covers me; I am freedom to the gunman held captive by the devil, now released to his true home; Armstrong is meh boy! He does give me real business" Click to read Grave

"Out from my mouth I speak the truth; Funny thing is… ; The truth offends; But the truth shall set you free; So I've concluded that we don’t want freedom" Click the read The Truth

Father

A word seldom lived up to the hype
Because its daddy one day and gone one night
It’s taking care of your kids and loving them
To neglecting them and leaving them lonely
Is father a bad word?
I ask you this solemnly
Could somebody tell me please?
Why these fathers, “chile” fathers
Don’t accept their roles and responsibilities
I mean after all they are the ones the mantle falls on
It’s up to them to pick it up
This is a plead for all men to step up!

On this day where fathers are celebrated
Many feel the pain and hurt left by them by fathers they hate
Abandoned, raped physically and emotionally
Socially skewed because they were torn battered and bruised
To them it’s just no use to forgive
A life without a father is like living without leadership and direction
The physical presence of a man represents the feeling of safety, protection and strength
To think some children grew up without that foundation and came out okay
Is testament to their own mental strength and ability to overcome
They say “Like father like son” But its time we erase that depiction
And create young men who can make their own choices in life and be there own individual

Let me paint you a visual
I’ll do it with my pen
As my words flash before you
You’ll see where the image stems
A good father is a protector, a good friend, supportive, a teacher, who loves unconditionally
Caring, He spends quality time, a disciplinarian
He leads by example he takes up the mantle because he is wise, determined and strong
I know my father will never leave me, and he’ll never let me down
I thank you Lord for giving my life direction even when I had none
You are my Father

Risk

100% of the shots you don’t take don’t go in. Wayne Gretzky

Risk… Life is about taking chances and living with the consequences. You won’t always get it right, mistakes will be made but its worth it if you learn from your mistakes, then you try again. Don’t fear the unknown but approach it head on as an equal. It’s 100% certain that the ideas, dreams and thoughts that you leave idle and don’t attempt won’t happen. Simple, yet profound!

Take a chance with your idea, with that new guy or girl that you like, with a career change, perusing further education. Just do it and put your all into it. If you put your all into it and gave it your best you can’t regret how it turns out. Never regret making a decision if it is a calculated one. If it is to be it will be, but still try your hardest.

Don’t fear risk, risk is your opportunity to live, to experience, to grow and to be fulfilled.

Grave

I am the hole that holds long, lost forgotten souls of the young and the innocent
I am the place where the criminals and drug pushers lie when their deeds catch up to them
I am subject to the tears cried on the dirt that covers me
I am freedom to the gunman held captive by the devil, now released to his true home
Armstrong is meh boy! He does give me real business
I welcome with open arms anyone who visits me
When my name is called in a room the whole place does get quiet
Grave…

De limin spot for all who misbehave and don’t live their life right
Some people like they does try to party by me for spite
And others like to send people unjustifiably to me
But I won’t turn them away
Your body is my buddy
Society is made up so that my dancehall will always be filled to capacity
While politicians smile happily, unaffected, uncaring, unremorseful
They are supporters of my campaign you see “The FOG”
Friends of Grave

I too am not without criticism
I have done my job earnestly
But one thing eludes me
The real plague of this country
You know who I’m talking about
The big guns with the M-O-N-E-Y
They say money can’t buy happiness but apparently it could sustain life
Could keep you free from seeing me for a while
Hahahahaha but for how long?
Are you safe from me or just biding time?
I will search for you, find you and eat you alive

I am Grave
No slave am I
You live in fear, watching over your shoulder
While my minions are out there lurking, looking for their next victim
The grow colder and colder ever day
A product of their environment they are easily influenced
All it took was a sense of belonging and the promise of quick money to motivate them
Now I’m the massa
When the sun rises I crack my whip and my slaves go to work around the clock
Their job? Distribute drugs, steal, threaten, kidnap and kill
And my victims are brought to me personally thereafter

I may sound mean but I have a soft side too
I love the smell of fresh flowers :)
I particularly like white Lilies and Carnations
Don’t I lead an exciting life?
At least more so than my less popular brother Cremation
Your demise is my validation
The means by which you come to me subject to determination
You will see me eventually
But I’ve cheated the system and increased the odds of how soon
The possibility now amplified
I am Grave and just as serious

WICKED!!!

The innocent and pure now wicked!!!

We are wicked people living in a wicked time
I hope this piece touches you with its wicked lines
From the politicians, fooling us with their wicked lies
To the man on the street whose mind is wicked
They are both out to do no good
These times are twisted
Because when men of wisdom spoke
Nobody listened

No love for our fellowman anymore
Hmmm wasn’t that predicted?
The rich shall become poor because of their greed
It shall engulf them and their obsession for wealth shall feed on their souls
Man Kenyon you're cold
No Kenyon you’re real
Kenyon you’re brave
Don’t ever keep your lips sealed
Say what needs to be said
Say what’s on my mind that I keep to myself

Our once precious love is now wicked
Yet vivid memories still linger
In my mind at least
Still at war with the savage beast raging in our hearts apparently
It’s like we take two steps forward and ten steps backwards because of the negativity
But I still hold onto serendipity
Although these days my fate in mankind has dwindled
My hope blistered like shingles
It pains and burns deep
But it won’t make me lose any sleep
I got better things to do with my time
It’s precious and cherished like the flow in this rhyme

Everyone today searches for a sign or a hero
Well I say that hero is you
You can succeed and make true every desire in your heart
No need to be wicked and think wicked thoughts
Just remember those who fought the same fight before you
Learn to forgive and don’t hold onto hurt and pain
Those things leave stains on your soul that can’t easily be removed
With no remorse our nation is proving to be suffering from heartache
Lashing out with heavy rains, bloodshed, politrics and poverty
Sigh… sometimes I want to get away I need some serenity
Then a voice so heavenly whispers in my ear
My son they need you here, have no fear
I will walk before you and make your path clear from the wicked

The Flight of Time

It’s amazing how quickly that time flies
With such dexterity and speed
That I’d make even Superman cry
And no super hero am I
So I can’t hold back its hands
Although I would like to bound them sometimes
Get some rope and duct tape and force time to stay still
To capture that still moment in time
The one I never want to forget
The one I wish would last forever and never end

And at other times I’d let time flow so freely
Let it fly so effortlessly
I’d watch time soar above the clouds as it seemingly touches the sky
Watch in awe as it grows, develops and bears fruit
Time is continuous and continuously reminds me of its continuity
It provides me, deprives me, all the while with a graceful simplicity
Can’t be mad at time it is beautiful

Time speed up now!
Help me to forget all the pain you’ve caused me
I paused you and gave you momentum
Why then do you bare me such pain?
Has my quest to control you been in vain?
I adopted you, raised you and gave you my name
Is this how you repay me?
With grey hair and tainted memories

I am mad at you time!
Go sit in the corner and take a time out and think about what you’ve done!

Time waits for no one
So take the time
To appreciate the gift of time
Lessons learnt through time
Time shared
Time to eat
Time to sleep
Fun times
Good times
Bad times
Because time is precious and not meant to be wasted
But consumed throughout time

Stop blaming everyone else... The problem is you!

‎Take in this song by my fave Hip Hop artist right now Lupe Fiasco. As I said in a previous post nothing is real lately everything is 'Dumbed' Down  so when I listen to music it's almost never current music. In fact I don't know mostly any new music and new 'artistes'.

So yeah listen to the song and then I'll explain it.

Cool song right! :DThe standout lines which encompasses the message behind the song (repeated) for me are:

"The scientists said it only infects the mind
The little boy said it only infects the girls
The Preacher man said it's gonna kill off the soul
A bum said it's gonna kill off the world"

What is the lesson to be learnt here? We all point fingers at each other for all the things wrong with the world. For word problems such as war, civil unrest, AIDS, famine, economic downturn, racism, WMD’s, spiraling crime, riots and global warming to name a few people are always quick to point fingers, speculate, ridicule and pass judgment. Stop blaming everyone else... The problem is you! We must all learn to collectively accept responsibility for our collective problems. Why not work together to make your nation better, to make our word better! Let’s stop acting like it’s us against them and come to the understanding that it’s just us and us need to work together for we!

I implore that we do this with great urgency and haste. Those who have eyes to see let them see. The global outlook doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Every day we watch on our local and international news and see more and more problems, they are spiraling out of control. Let’s all do something about it. Work together because we all live together on this Earth.

The Book on Subliminal Sex

Okay so my friend lent me this book I opened it...
Subliminal sex right in front of us
As plain (plane) as a flat surface
It has infiltrated the fabric of our very society
So much so that we sell our bodies unconsciously
For money, publicity, fame and glory
A story of the times
I keep reading...

Subliminal sex has taken our individuality and replaced it with a false sense of belonging
Well mission accomplished
We all fit in now
We all condone it
Either we all turn a blind eye or more times even look
We all form a part of a nation ruled by the mantra that sex sells
Well now aren’t we doing well for ourselves?
I turn the page...

A philosophy has been created:
“To be sexy is all about what your wear or rather what you don’t”
One must do anything it takes to get attention and whoever gets the most wins!
Forgive us Father we have sinned
We've strayed ever further away from you
Hoe houses are big business
Women selling their bodies for money
Expectantly I keep reading...

I've seen women not bound to any particular Hoe house organisation peddling their bodies too
In fact this is more prevalent
In fact it is accepted
In fact it is expected
Morals, values, self-worth neglected
And everyone stays silent and lets it happen
Who is to blame?

I read on...

No one seems want to address the real issue
Swept under the carpet like dust well this book is a vacuum
About to suck up all the dirt
Put it in reverse and blast it
Now all our dirty laundry is all over the room
Consumed by sex
In the movies, the Internet, in advertising too
And not to mention facebook pics
The personal calling card...

I continue reading...

It’s no surprise that we are highly ranked globally as pornographic consumers
The youth consume subliminal sex at a young age
Grow up to be adults already having reached the next stage
I for one am outraged that this cycle seems to be continuing
This has to stop
We deserve better for ourselves
Who is responsible?
Who is to blame?
Who must pay the price?

The story ends abruptly with two letters a mirrored reflection
M E
It’s about time you read the book its thought provoking in the end...

Thank you for Reading

So I reached 2000 post views today. I just wanted to tell everyone who reads or have read my posts thank you. My readership is interesting too half are from Trinidad and Tobago (where I’m from) a quarter is from the US and then the other 25% is made up of  readers from the UK, Denmark, Canada, Australia, Philippines, India, Norway, Germany, Slovenia and Singapore! Which is quite interesting, humbling and darn cool! :D It’s really encouraging to know and that for whatever reason persons are reading my blog posts from all over the world! It just goes to show that no matter who we are or where we’re from we’re all just people and go through the same experiences in live, which is what I write about… Life!

Thank you for reading!!! It’s good to know that people still do read. Reading, which was once commonplace has now been turned into something lame, weird and uncool with the dawning of the TV and now the Internet. When I meet someone I’m interested in one of the first things I ask is do you read? It puts me in a frame of mind for the type of person they are. Readers are more imaginative, open minded, resourceful and can talk about things other than cars, clothes, liming and the like.

I don’t care what you read newspapers, magazines, books or blogs it brings knowledge, expands your mind, makes you more accepting and incites thought. One of the sexiest things a woman can tell me is “I read about…. somewhere”. That’s really impressive! I guess it’s because I’m a sucker for good conversation.

I will continue to write if you continue to read and continue to let me know your thoughts on my thoughts. I will continue to call it how I see it. I write to provoke thought firstly. I write to inspire, to motivate, to be at peace myself and get these damn thoughts out of my head! I write because I love writing! Just as you read because you love reading.

Thank you for reading…

Lessons learnt from Winnie the Pooh

Yes “Silly old Winne the Pooh”, the honey loving, slow talking, chubby, yellow bear in the red shirt. If you ever really watched Winnie the Pooh you would realise that he was the most brilliant of them all. It shows that even the simplistic of creatures (people) could have an impact and offer us something positive. Pooh usually quelled all quarrels, came up with solutions to problems and gave us some magnificent ideas that sparked our imagination and made us wonder. Socrates said wisdom begins in wonder so evidently Pooh Bear was teaching us from a very young age to be wise.

I came across some quotes today from Pooh Bear and this is my analysis of the lessons behind them.

“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?"

Lol Good old Winnie, I particularly like this one because everyone who knows me knows I like my belly :D But this quote isn’t about food. It’s saying that it is easier and more enjoyable to communicate with someone on simpler terms. I mean is it not more enjoyable to talk to someone without any protocols or formality? Think of addressing the President or talking to a formal boss. Imagine if that was how things were all the time… sucky right? Lol. Less is more and even if you’re in a position of power people will be able to relate to you better if you are more like them.

“You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”

Women take note... Waiting for the right guy to come along? Why not go find the right guy? Waiting on the right new job? Why not go searching for it! Sometimes we have to be proactive, make things happen and don't waste time waiting for things to happen.
“If the person you are talking to doesn’t appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.”

Most persons I feel suffer from chronic fluff-in-ear-itis. But patience in a virtue. Be patient with people, people grasp, learn and understand at different rates. Patience is really a skill though and takes practice and the right temperament to master. Be more like Pooh, don't bother... Give everyone all the time they need.

“Don’t underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering."

Learn to appreciate life and the little things that make it worth living. Time must be taken to appreciate the sunshine, the rain, the green grass, the moon, the sky and the clouds. Take time to just listen, to feel and to experience without any obligation to.

"If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you."

Beautifully inspiring. Everyone should always remember “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” Always remember and appreciate those close to you. This feels like a parent, loved one or someone close to you saying these things and reminding you that even when you all are apart you will always be with each other.

This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life.

Nothing else can be said about this quote, it is PERFECT! I wish all those things for each and every one of my friends and family. Speak positive things into the lives of the people you love.

I really think that Winnie the Pooh should be knighted! Winnie has accomplished just as much as anyone knighted in years past. Devoting literally all of one's life to teaching children about life, values, friendship, inciting their imagination and prolonging their innocence in my opinion is more than deserving of such an honor.

Satisfaction

I came across this quote today. “A man who finds no satisfaction in himself will seek for it in vain elsewhere.”

The writer of the quote La Rochefoucauld was a French writer in the 16th Century. It’s amazing to think that five centuries later man still cannot find satisfaction in himself. In fact it is probably even less so that the general population can find satisfaction with self. Everyone wants to be a part of, or to have this, or to be with this person, or do this to feel “satisfied.”

Sadly those things are just fleeting, momentary, temporary and other words which mean the same thing. Yet still man is content with pursuing these brief moments of satisfaction. We collect them, hoping that when put together they will make us feel whole. Many people spend most of their years chasing after things that they believe they need in their lives to complete them and help them find gratification.

What the writer is saying and is so true that only when we have found fulfillment within ourselves that we will truly be whole and not look outside ourselves for that gratification. There is a wanting desire in all of us to be happy, to be content, to be satisfied. It is only when we search within ourselves and be content with who we are, what we look like, our possessions, our life situation, accept it and make the best of it do we find peace. Then do we become satisfied.

Just a thought…. Ponder on it…. I know you have your goals things you want to accomplish that would “lead to your satisfaction” Educational accomplishments, Relationships, House, Car, Marriage, Kids, Wealth, etc… But think about it… Can all the things you ever want really fulfill you? Some may say “Hell yes!” lol But nah… You can gain the whole world but what would it profit you losing your soul? Losing sight of yourself… I think that in life everyone needs to work on self.

Instead of man's "pursuit of happiness" being about chasing things, feelings or people we should all try to become as whole as we can be. The quicker you learn the lesson that you need to be content with (insert name here) then everything else in life would be that more satisfying because you have found fulfillment in yourself first. The earlier in life one learns this... the more years of true satisfaction one can enjoy.
