Colorful Pants... A story of the Z Generation (4 of 4)

Colourful pants yes...

Their issues are real though and sadly they are not secure enough with themselves to think and make decisions for themselves. They look to the media TV, Radio and Internet for advice or seek advice from their equally misguided peers. They will 9 out of 10 times make the wrong decisions. They are hurt, angry neglected, misled and they are many.

They are our future leaders, doctors, lawyers, businessmen, mothers, and fathers....scary (shudders). They are very intelligent though I must say and way more creative than we are! They are all followers, all the same, like an army of likeminded shallow little people :S (eat the same stuff, dress the same, talk the same way, think the same, act the same).

Within them is a longing, a yearning to belong... to be accepted.... to be a part of something. It is what consumes them, they all want to be noticed, recognised as cool, they want to stand out and be revered among their peers. They all are good at something but too lazy and misguided to hone and master it.

Sigh... Colourful pants...

I can’t help but loathe the sight of you all, at the same time feel your pain and see your potential. I see the innocence that is deep... deep... deep (×10) within you. I am only between 5-9 times your senior but oh my have you changed!

Will things ever go back to the way that they were? No, it’s too late for that. Should we just let them be? No, they’d hurt themselves too much. What then should we do? No need to play on their turf, see the world through their eyes, then we will see that “Dorothy we’re not in Kansas anymore”. Only when we can relate to their world can we make a better one for them. It starts with listening first, understanding, reasoning and action.

They want to be told things flat out, plainly as they are, speak to them as adults because they know about everything. Catch their attention say vagina not ‘down there’ say sex not intercourse, just be real, because they are real. Colourful pants, a very well respected adversary of mine.

You’ll gain even more respect when you start using those colourful pants for something constructive and to make a positive difference in the world.

Is this year blaxx’s year to shine? With three years of consistent contenders for the Monarch and Road March can he finally live up to the quality of his music? Or will the Silver Surfer Fay Ann Lyons retain her crown with her very well crafted song that seems like it was created specifically for Fantastic Friday? Can JW & Blaze overcome the stigma of being ‘kicks’ performers and deliver a commanding performance with Carnival 2010’s biggest tune?

The race is between the three and not only do we have to factor in popularity votes in this one but the order of appearance as well. The battle begins with Fay Ann who comes on after Farmer who is expected to deliver a top class performance, but there will be no doubt that the crowd will be anxiously awaiting her arrival with chants of her name. Once she is able to capture the attention of the crowd which I am sure she will she’s going to retain her title, look out for she showing some skin for the first time this season to prove to people that she still has that 6 pack :P and look out for other of the usual tricks she has up her sleeve.

Iwer is up next and although his song did not get much airplay this season (people are fed up with his overly mundane lyrics I suppose) if anyone can command a crowd at Fantastic Friday it is Iwer, however how would he deal with coming on after his new rival? And if the crowd erupted after her performance like last year things would look even worse for the veteran.
JW & Blaze will no doubt bring the crowd back to life and turn the energy level way back up, but can they sustain that energy onstage for their entire performance? That remains to be seen. Although they have undoubtedly the season’s biggest song they are still the underdogs of the competition because of their inexperience. What about the stage show? We have yet to see what they can really do with a full length performance and it will be very interesting to see what they come up with and how the judges and crowd reacts.

Blaxx has the tough act of coming on after them but with two strong songs to choose from he should have no problems with being Geppetto and having the crowd as his Pinocchio.
More so both these songs have great theatrical elements to them that I am sure he will take advantage of in his stage show. His main weakness however is his energy on stage, if he shakes a leg this year he has every chance of winning the crown. I say he perform the crowd favourite Zombie others may say he perform Hunting, I guess we’ll just have to wait for Fantastic Friday to see.

People would also want to see if former two time winner Ronnie Mc Intosh still has it alongside another veteran KMC however the low level energy song with weak lyrics and limited airplay would leave Ronnie fans expectant of more or on the other hand maybe Ronnie will be able to pull off a spectacular performance of old and leave the crowd wanting more, unlikely though.

Fay Ann retains her crown followed closely by Blaxx and JW & Blaze. Farmer will steal 4th from the veterans Iwer and Ronnie while Skinny Fabulous will take 5th (look out for him though, he’s a rising star and this song’s a creeper)

The Synopsis...
Its going to be a showdown between the tight stage show and performance of Shurwayne and the popularity great song and surprise advantage that Fay Ann has. Shurwayne is Mr. Consistent when it come to the Groovy Soca Monarch winning it twice before and will be looking to revenge Fay Ann as she dethroned him last year. Fay Ann however has the edge the wow factor of the night i.e when she picks up her mobile phone (bmobile blackberry the main sponsor) somewhere in her performance and calls for assistance and Mr. Bunji Garlin de girls dem darling comes on and makes the crowd go wild it will all be over! Not to mention it will go hand in hand perfectly with the lyrics of the song! Can’t beat that!

It is unfortunate though for the likes of TC the Party Monarch 2009 out of Barbados who was an excellent song with real vibes and melody, not to mention her powerful voice that I’m sure will be in fine form come Fantastic Friday, look out for lots of texts coming out from Barbados as they try to take the crown back to their homeland.

Kerwin Du Bois and Farmer also have a popular hit on their hands their song is a staple on the radio, I look forward to a great performance from them. Zoelah could flat out sing and I think the judges would like that not to mention the catchiness of her hit song released early in the season last year and still receiving good rotation on the airwaves. She was 4th last year and will stay put in the top 5 this year.

Rikki Jai, the veteran in the business will definitely have the crowd behind him but will be just barely be squeezed out of the top 5. Chucky has a great composition big up (Sherrard Church) but this won’t be his year to shine, he should be in the top 5 though. Patrice Roberts hasn’t quite made it there just yet, there are very high expectations for this young star with the powerful vocals but somehow her performances lack that energy and the crowd never really gets into it, great song though, but it get a beating as it was released sometime in June/July last year and as such the crowd may not have any positive reaction to it.

I think that the top 2 are certain and there will be very little separating the other six contenders I mentioned. The defining 3 factors will ultimately be their stage show, how the crowd reacts and the x-factor this year of those texts votes, I mean it counts for 35%!

Fay Ann and Shurwayne have those 3 factors on lock not to mention a wealth of experience and popularity to back it up and the battle will undoubtedly be between them.

Colorful Pants... A story of the Z Generation (3 of 4)

Blame the internet!

Nah cant fully blame them, I love facebook! (sorry if I angered you…. Was just kidding… honest! :P) Anyways… Blame the parents for giving their children access to something they themselves don’t understand! How could a boss manage his employees effectively if he doesn’t know what the heck his employees does in the first place! (T&T is not valid in that argument btw :P). Parents need to know what sites their kids visit and are members of, know what they do on these sites and who they communicate with. And I’m sorry if I see my child always on the phone or texting right through when they were asleep I’d be damn sure to check through their messages! Trust me if more parents did this unexpectedly to their children they would be in for the shock of their lives! What about a child’s personal freedom you ask? My opinion is that they shouldn't have any! What should a teenager have to hide anyways!
Blame the Government!

For not putting things in place to deal with delinquent parents and students more effectively. Why are 15 year olds clubbing like nobody’s business? Why are 14 year old boys allowed to purchase cigarettes? For that matter, my opinion is that the legal age for smoking, drinking, consenting to have sex and getting your drivers license should be 21! Just my opinion… because I can’t see how an 18 year old could make a rational decision to do any of the like with constraint and consideration. Not these 18 year olds we have here today, they have no direction, no sense of self worth, no respect and are very insecure! Colorful pants….

Blame fast food!

Lol yes! And the parents who let their kids eat that junk 24 7! I mean KFC and Pizza used to be a treat back in the day.. .Like once a month… But these colourful pants live on this junk! Literally!!! The thing is fast food is processed and as such has a lot of chemicals and hormones that apparently have a negative affect on colourful pants! :S You may laugh at that right… but ask any delinquent young person what their favourite food is… I will bet anything they say KFC! I heard this on the radio sometime and it was interesting… Chicken used in fast food has steroids so those children growing as fast as the chicken! Lol funny but soooo true! Look how big these children looking for their age! 16 year old girls looking like 20 something, 17 year old boys with more hair on their face and the deep voice I always wanted! :-0 Its either the human race is evolving again or its something in the water or food… you pick! Don’t talk for the negative health effects of what they are eating… hmmmm there generation will get diseases like diabetes and high cholesterol at a much younger age that’s for sure… The healthcare industry will be booming!

These colourful pants… creating future employment opportunities already :P

Colorful Pants... A story of the Z Generation (2 of 4)

On the other side we have boys/young men that hide behind a tough exterior and colourful pencil jeans, with cross, dragon and skull depicting tees calling death upon themselves. They too wanna grow up fast, smoking cigarettes, weed and drinking more alcohol than even I can throw down. I mean after all being drunk or high is celebrated.

But their main goal is to f*ck every girl in the world like the Lil Wayne song says, these are the things they’re feeding into their heads Movado, Vibes Cartel, Gully, Gaza. Lil Wayne and 50 Cent, they go searching for a gangsta life, I mean who does that!? :S Is that even logical? Is it the adrenalin? Do they just not care at all?

Guns, sex, violence, gambling, smoking, drinking, cursing and looking “sexy”(trashy). These are the vices of the youth today. Why do they have vices anyway? Think back to when you were a teenager, what were the things you’d consider vices? Getting to play outside till after 6? Marble pitch for takes, rounder’s and sky? (those games were addictive btw) Sleeping over by a friend? (actually sleeping over). Oh my have things changed.

So what the hell happened?

Who is to blame?

I think firstly lets blame the parents for giving their children too much freedom to the point where now they cannot be controlled. Blame them for putting way too much money in their hands with no accountability, blame them for giving them too much choice.

If you go to church on a Sunday, damn sure if you living under my roof you’re going to church too, and you’ll like it! What ever happened to those sorts of parents? When did they get so soft? Now…. Children stay up till after 12 like its nobody’s business, where what they want, eat what they want, speak to their parents how they want. I’m sorry but if a kid could talk back to his parents who are teachers, police officers or other adults? “Oh please my mom can’t even tell me to do that!” That’s where our society’s at right now.
Those colourful pants are out of control
